Getting Here

Chamonix is located at the cross roads of France, Italy and Switzerland and is served by a number of Airports, Motorways and railways. Below we have outlined some of the more common methods of getting to Chamonix.

By Plane

Not only is Geneva airport an easy one hour drive away but it is serviced by a large number of airlines including Easyjet, BA, Swiss air, Air France, Fly baboo and many more. Getting from the airport is easy by either an airport transfer minibus or car hire.

By Car

Chamonix takes about 8 or 9 hours from most channel ferry ports, driving is easy on the French Autoroutes and route finding is straightforward. Check out www.mappy.com for a detailed route plan, and Holiday Autos for a cheap hire car.

By Train

It is possible to travel to Chamonix by train and there is a very well located station. However, it is not the quickest, easiest or cheapest option. Traveling from Paris requires two changes normally in Annecy and then St Garvais. Traveling from Geneva airport also requires a minimum of two changes.
